I Got To Move...A Little

The first thing this morning I called my office to find out if it was going to be possible to obtain the two remaining oversize permits. An hour later they came across the fax at the truckstop. Great! I could finally get out of there.
With tomorrow's holiday the oversize curfew goes into effect at noon today prohibiting movement until sunrise Wednesday morning so I couldn't travel very far, but every little bit helps. I moved to this truckstop close to the KY/TN line and found myself a parking space.
It was a move of just under 100 miles, but put me in at a much better truckstop for a layover. Nicer facilities, that much closer to my destination, and a WiFi account I pay for by the month. This is the last decent truckstop I could have reached before hitting the noon curfew, so it will do.
I'm not the only oversize parked here, nor was I in the previous truckstop. We're all just hanging out now until the curfew is over and then we can hit the road full speed. I met one driver who's also hauling an oversize load to the port in Miami and we talked about running together, but his truck is somewhat slower than mine and I won't want to drag my feet once I can get rolling again.
Ah well, at least I have a decent place to hang out and I was just informed by the nice waitress that the hotel next door has a lounge. Who could ask for more?
