I left home yesterday (Monday) amid a deluge of rain and some pretty strong winds. I got out before the worst of Alberto hit, but was in heavy rains all the way out of Florida. Georgia was only having light rain. As I was headed for Charleston, SC to make my pick up for this morning I was still pretty much right in the storm's path.
I got up early, light rain, had a quick breakfast and did the final 45 minutes to my pick up. I was lucky in that it wasn't raining while I loaded and chained down the forklift I picked up, but the heavy, extremely humid tropical air was alreadyd in place signaling the coming storm.
I hit rain again near Columbia, SC but managed to get out of it again before hitting NC. Grabbing a bite of lunch here outside of Asheville, and then moving on towards WI. If I'm lucky I can deliver this tomorrow afternoon. Either way I'm well out of the path of the storm now so the driving conditions shouldn't be too bad, discounting the normal idiots behind the wheel.
