A bunch of useless crap
A Few Pics Of The Road
Published on May 17, 2006 By MasonM In Blogging
Once again playing around with my digital camera, I shot some pics in KY and WV while driving along just to reflect my point of view. Nothing especially exciting about these, just some ordinary views from the seat of my rig.

Great pics!

Out of curiousity, what is the maximum grade allowed on INterstates, or State controlled roads?  I dont think I have seen one worse than 6% and that is in va and California as those are the only 2 places I drive currently.

Man, I thought I recognized those ... I used to drive between Hinton and Richmond (well, Petersburg) all the time. Before I saw the text, I was like, "Huh, he's going through WV".

Nice. That drive down I-64 between eastern WV and western VA sure is a pretty one.

For some reason, I always got a little nervous going down Sandstone Mountain with a big rig (usually a double trailer, too) right behind me.

Oh, and Doc - Sandstone Mountain on I-64 IS a 7% grade. Steep sucker. Most trucks (even empty) are limited to 45 through there. Looks like a truck stop parking lot heading UP the mountain.

I've been down a couple of 9% interstate grades, and one 14% grade on a US hwy in WV.

Ouch!  Did you replace the breaks after those?

on May 17, 2006
Nah, I'm a good driver. I've only ever smoked my brakes once and that was on Monteagle in TN due to a mechanical failure (jake brake quit on me)

I had a friend who drove a dump truck. He was telling me some very interesting sightings of dangerous activities in passenger vehicles? I was wondering if you see similar things?

Oh yeah and SWEET pics .

Thought it was interesting you shot a picture of the runaway ramp.

Breaker Breaker Keep on Truckin!

Drove a Truck (the delivery van verity - about a 14 footer) down Wintergreen Mountain. I should have taken lessons from you as yea, we were smoking the whole way down! (I think the grade is about 14%, but not sure).

Going down Sandstone looks like the descent into Taylors Falls on hwy. 95, same kind of view.

"Life Through the Windshield!" thanks Mason
