A bunch of useless crap

While I've really enjoyed a few days of relaxing at home it's time for me to get back to work. Tomorrow morning I'll head up to Jacksonville, FL to pick up some machinery going to Belvidere, IL.

Tonight I'm preparing the house to be closed up once again, readying my gear, and enjoying a final few hours of rest before getting back to the grind. I'm also looking forward to whatever new sights and adventures may or may not await me "out there". It's a big country and there's always something new to experience, even along routes I've traveled 100 times before.

So, the laundry is all done up, the gear is packed, and all that remains now is to get a decent night's sleep before hitting that long strip of pavement once again.

My mother surprised me by presenting me with several black velvet bags she had sewn for me to keep my pipes in so they wouldn't get scratched up. That was quite thoughtful of her. I thanked her and told her I was ordering a Churchwarden that's 15" long and would pick up some material, perhaps suede, to make a bag for it.

Right now I have 2 briars, two corn cobs, and 1 small corn cob for quick smokes. The Churchwarden, which I'll be ordering in the next day or so, will likely be my favorite "relaxing pipe", as I've always wanted one. The one I'm ordering is styled much like one seen in the LOTR movies. Actually, it's called the Wizard. There is another called the Strider I will also eventually order.

The Wizard I am ordering right away (15"):

The Strider I will order later (10"):

I can see you getting into the pipe.  I used to smoke one when I was younger, but the drawbacks you mentioned about the gear meant I gave it up.

Yeah, I had tried smoking a pipe in my younger days but just really didn't know what I was doing.

I really enjoy it, I find it very relaxing. I am slowly weaning myself away from the cigarettes and more to the pipe every day. Hopefully soon it will be 100% pipe, 0% cigarettes. Right now it's about 60/40.
