A bunch of useless crap

I just pumped some fuel into my truck. As Illinois deisel is so expensive compared to many other places, $2.95 here, I only filled one tank. It took right at 100 gallons. This particular truckstop provides you with a free meal if you buy at least 100 gallons of fuel and, as it's lunch time, I took advantage of it. So, for a mere $295 one can get a free meal.

Fuel is getting outrageously expensive everywhere. I saw one truckstop here in Illinois the other day that was pricing their deisel at $3.07/gallon. Considering how much less expensive it is to make deisel compared to gasoline, there is no logical excuse for it being this damn high. It's pure robbery, plain and simple. Manufacturing deisel fuel costs roughly half of the cost to manufacture gasoline, yet in many, many places deisel is the same or even higher than gasoline.

I suppose when people have to fork over 10 bucks for a loaf of bread they'll start paying attention to what's going on out there. Trucking companies are not going to haul product at a loss, they have to make a profit to stay in business. Guess who ultimately pays for the outrageous deisel fuel prices? That's right boys and girls, you do. Every time you see the price of your favorite products inch up ever higher, that's the reason for it. Not because it costs more to make them, or the manufacturer is trying to get greedy, but because the oil companies are posting ever increasing profits at your expense and it is costing more and more to transport everything from the raw materials to the finished product.

Remember, everything you buy has traveled on several different trucks at different stages of it's production. You are paying for the fuel burned in each and every one of those trucks so that finished product is on the shelves when you need it. So next time you notice how your grocery bill is increasing, be sure to thank an oil company executive for it.

I have a 14 gallon tank, so I have not had to pay hundreds - yet!  But I know this is going to trickle down.  It has to.  That is why the Feds are still treating this like an inflation economy.  It is going to hit, the only question is how soon.

Correction: I just arrived at the aforementioned truckstop with the $3.079 fuel a couple of days ago. Today it's $3.099.

How soon is now. It's already starting to affect prices in all areas.

This particular truck's fuel capacity is 250 gallons, so a fill up is no laughing matter these days.

I too know that diesel is supposed to be cheaper than gasoline,  back in 85-88 our taxicab had a diesel engine and in those years the diesel fuel was ridiculously high!

jeepers,  for what you paid for fuel,  they should give you a punch card for week or two of free meals!

Ouch!  Do you have a gold card?

And anyone whohas been in the store, knows that this is the beginning, not the climax.  It is going to get worse.

I have a company fuel card. Don't get me wrong, the company is buying the fuel because it's their truck, but I still try and save them money on it. The more they have to spend on fuel the less they have for other things (like pay raises).

It's going to get much worse I fear.
