A bunch of useless crap

I'm on my way to Oshkosh,WI to pick up a military truck going to Greer, SC. Maybe I'm just feeling lazy tonight or maybe it's the nagging pain in my hip but I decided to stop short and get a hotel room for the night.

I'm still 3 1/2 hours from Oshkosh and probably should have kept going but I saw this hotel right off the interstate with a big sign that said "truck parking/trucker rates" and "free high speed internet" and took the exit. My dispatcher will probably be a tad miffed at me tomorrow but I'll deal with that tomorrow. After all, he never actually said there was any rush about it.

For now I'm sitting in the lounge enjoying a cold brew and relaxing a bit.. As much as I enjoy trucking sometimes it's nice to get out of the truck for a little while.

Sounds like a good idea.

Enjoy your beer.

Don't you get lonely?

Not really. I enjoy my own company and can always find someone to talk to. I've been educating the bartender on computer security while sitting here. We installed some spyware and AV apps on his laptop. Got a free beer out of it.

Yeah you are..I can't put my finger on what it is exactly...but I like to keep in touch with you because I don't like to think of you out there on the road alone, posting on JU and then not getting any response....I imagine (and could well be wrong) that sometimes it must get lonely and having a cyber family like JU kinda keeps it less so.

But then I could be operating in my own little universe....it does happen occasionally...as my husband will be the first to attest!

Well thanks, Tova. It is nice to know that someone is reading the drivel I write here and takes the time to respond. I try to keep it real.

and "free high speed internet"

The new "We'll keep a light on for you" slogan?  Love it!

Crashed early last night, or I would have had one (brew) with you.

I got a surprise when I got to Oshkosh. It turns out it wasn't a military truck I picked up but an airport crash truck. Another oversized load.

I'm at the yard now waiting for them to load some additional pieces on the trailer that are going to NC. That'll make the load pay just that much better.

I was informed that once I deliver this I'll be picking up another crash truck and taking it to Tampa where I'll deliver it and pick up another one that's going back to the factory in Oshkosh. That should keep me busy for a few days. And since it's all oversized loads should put some nice change in my pockets too.

Yeah! Glad to hear you profit margin is expanding!

It's nice to be able to take a break.

And since it's all oversized loads should put some nice change in my pockets too.

And even better when you get an added bonus!
