Today went reasonably well and my running mate and I made it safely to the truckstop just North of where we deliver tomorrow. This morning we called the customer and got directions to the hospital where these generators are to be installed. It turns out I just happen to know right where it is.
The customer did throw us one curve. It seems they had set up two crane appointments. One generator will be unloaded at 9:00am tomorrow and the other at 1:00pm. This really didn't make any sense, and I said so, and the customer explained that room is limited and one would have to be moved into the second story before they could unload the second.
My dispatcher called me a couple of hours after that and asked how we were going to handle the unloading. I told him that since Ricky was loaded first I thought it was only fair that he be unloaded first. My dispatcher told me that Ricky had called him and said that he felt the same way but was afraid to bring it up with me because he thought I might get angry about it. He really doesn't know me that well.
I assured the dispatcher that there was nothing to be concerned about and that he could call Ricky back and let him know that I agreed to the fair and proper unloading order.
When we got stopped here Ricky told me that he didn't want to get into a fight with me over the unloading and that's why he didn't mention the issue directly with me. I assured him that everything was just fine and that I agree that "fair is fair". I also told him that he should grow a little back bone and handle these things directly from now on.
When we got to the truckstop here I was pleased to discover that they had installed a free WiFi hotspot since my last visit a few weeks ago. How cool is that? Sadly it isn't strong enough to reach the section of parking lot where I parked my rig so I have to sit inside to use it. Oh well, can't have everything.
