A bunch of useless crap
Being a More Healthy Me
Published on March 25, 2004 By MasonM In Health & Medicine
As I wrote in a previous article, I have been working on getting more fit and healthy since the first of the year.

My diet has become much more healthy than before. I eat, on average, six times a day now. I eat small meals and healthy snacks. This serves to keep my metabolism up and burning energy. I cut out fried foods altogether and reduced the amount of fat and carbs I take in.

Note I said I reduced fat and carbs, not eliminated them. The body needs some carbs and fat to function properly.

I am also working out as regularly as I can. Being an over-the-road trucker makes this a little more difficult, but not impossible.

It is working. Jan. 1st I weighed 250lbs and had a 40" waist. Today I weigh 200lbs and have a 38" waist.

I feel much better and stronger.

Yesterday I tried to put on a pair of bib overalls that I haven't been able to wear for a couple of years now. Wow! They actually fit!

Getting fit and losing weight is not about going on some diet. It is about making serious lifestyle changes. It's about changing the way one thinks about food. It's not about being deprived. It's about eating smarter. It's not about doing a lot of boring, repetitive exercises. It's about getting more active.

In short (I know, too late) it's about not being a couch potato who sits around vegging in front of the tube while stuffing yourself with potato chips, ice cream, and hamburgers. It's about moving yourself around like your were designed to do, and eating sensible foods to fuel your body so that it can perform as it is supposed to do.

If anyone would like more detailed information about how I am losing weight and getting in shape, please let me know and I will be glad to share it with you. (No I am NOT selling anything, just sharing my healthier life). Maybe if there is some real interest, I will write some detailed articles on the subject.
