A bunch of useless crap

Saturday morning I noticed that the rear tire on my bent was flat as a pancake. I know it wasn't flat when I moved it out of the house when I got home on Friday, but I figured after sitting for more than six weeks the air may have simply seeped out and a night outside on the carport finished the process.

Saturday afternoon I carried my pump outside to air up the tires to go for a ride. The rear tire wouldn't take air at all and the air came out as fast as I pumped it in. Great. I thought perhaps the tube had dry rotted. As I wasn't feeling especially energetic I just left it be.

This morning I went out, pulled a new tube out of storage, pulled the rear wheel off the bike, and carried it inside to repair it. That's when I saw the big cut on the side of the tire. It went all the way through tire, liner, and tube. Upon examination I could see that it had been cut with something very sharp, probably a knife. This wasn't any accident or dry rot. Some scum bag had probably tried to steal the bike some time Friday night and when they realized there was no way to get through the extremely well hardened lock they decided to slash the tire. Or they just decided to slash it for 'fun'.

Scum. That's the only word for someone like this. I really wish I had caught this piece of trash in the act. I would have beaten him to a pulp and turned over what was left to the police. In this state I could have legally shot him if I had caught him, but I would have enjoyed beating him half to death instead.

I had to get a ride down to the bike shop, shell out twenty five bucks for a new tire, and go to the trouble of installing it all because of some piece of filth that has no respect for the property of others. It's a damn shame that we have people like this roaming our streets. Personally I think we need to build more prisons and lock away every single piece of trash collected off the streets and keep them there.

I really, really wish I had caught the scumbag.

I hope you find him before you leave.  Maybe then he will think twice about vandalizing someone else's property.

A while back this friend of mine, who happens to be a BIG tattooed half crazy guy who is a “tree doctor” by trade and a chopper builder in his off time, heard something outside his window one night. When he got up to investigate, he saw someone cutting the tires on his truck! So he hauled ass out side and chased them for like three city blocks until he caught up with the guy. Heh, he said when he caught up to him they were BOTH winded and he said he reared back with his last remaining strength and hit the guy as dead hard as he could and knocked him smooth out! THEN he took him by the pants near his feet, and since the guy was a “slacker” and wore his pants baggy, he slid out of them. So he then took him by the ankle and DRAGGED his sorry ass in his underwear and wife beater shirt back to his house!

When he got back to the house, some neighbors came out and he got them to call the cops. But in the meanwhile, the tire cutter started to come around so he PICKED HIM UP over his head and THREW him into the back of his truck and told him he would for damn sure beat him to death if he even THOUGHT about getting out before the cops came. Needless to say he got a lot of atta boys from the cops as this piece of shit was well known for being a vandal. What I’d reall y like to have seen though is my buddy chasing him! He said he was probably a sight running down the street with murder in his heart wearing nothin’ but his boxers and a pair of cowboy boots, lol.

Would you really beat someone half to death for tearing up one of your belongings?

Damn straight.

I wouldn't be nearly as pissed if they had just stole the bike. It's the tearing it up just for shits 'n giggles that would REALLY enrage me. Heh, I'd be for kickin' their ass too -if they weren't TOO big that is...

I've already had one stolen. The joke was on them though, I had just bought a new one because that one was worn out, had stripped gears, and was pretty much a pos. I was still pissed though. If they had asked me for it I would have given it to them, they didn't have to steal it. I hate a damn thief.

Exactly. If you assault someone's property, you assault them. Anyone who doesn't understand that is beyond me. The whole wishy washy pacifist bullshit might make someone feel superior but it's hardly realistic except perhaps for a coward.

-if they weren't TOO big that is...

There's no such thing.

Is it wishy washy pacifist bullshit to think that beating someone HALF TO DEATH over "STUFF" is excessive?

I know it makes you think less of me, but I don't go around beating people up all the time. How am I supposed to raise children who follow the rules of law if I can't manage to control my anger and not beat the shit out of any one who crosses me for whatever reason?

Yep. You don't seem to understand that it isn't about the "stuff" it's about the act itself. I doubt you ever will.

if I can't manage to control my anger and not beat the shit out of any one who crosses me for whatever reason?

Ah but you see that's the thing that perhaps you don't understand. You don't beat the shit out of someone for whatever reason. There are very good reasons, and there are stupid reasons.

Theft, vandalism, and assault are very good reasons, someone calling you a name isn't. It's called judgment. Beating someone up because they looked at your girlfriend is probably one of the most common stupid reasons.

I don't know about where you live but here a person is well within their legal rights to use physical force, even deadly force, to defend self and property. The law here recognizes the right of a citizen to defend self and property which is perfectly reasonable and the way it should be.

Oh yes there is! I know 'cause I've learned it the hard way a coupla times!

Maybe it's a guy thing, Mason, because I just can't see how it's right to do something like that.

I think what I find alarming is the phrase "half to death"...

I can't imagine almost killing (or actually killing!) someone over a bike. It's not that it's ok for someone to vandalize your belongings. I agree that whoever did it is scum and should not be allowed to do that with impunity. I just can't wrap my head around wanting to nearly kill him (or her?) over a bike.

I don't think that's a good reason.

Put him (or her) in jail, sure. Press charges. Get your money, whatever. But almost kill the person? WOW.

I have been in situations where things of mine were randomly stolen or vandalized and killing or almost killing the person who did it (even when I knew and had access to the person who did it) was never something I considered.

Like I said, maybe that mentality is just a guy thing. I seriously don't get it.

Ah now I get it. It's a figure of speech.

To rephrase it, beat the shit outta him. Better?
