A bunch of useless crap

I have been doing my walking for exercise wearing an old pair of lightweight hiking shoes. My feet have been killing me because those shoes are simply not made for what I have been doing. This morning I went over to Dick's Sporting Goods.

I lucked out in that the young lady working the shoe department is a runner and actually knows what she's talking about. Once I explained to her that all of this is new to me, I know nothing at all about picking out the right athletic shoes, and what I intend to do with them she watched me walk, asked a bunch of questions including how much I wanted to spend (as little as possible LOL), and then told me I needed stability shoes.

She brought me three pairs to try on, two Brooks and one Asics. I walked around in each of them. The Brooks felt ok but didn't feel like they were really supporting the arch in my foot. The Asics felt great.

I bought the Asics 1170 shoes and immediately went for a walk in them. Wow, I had no idea a pair of shoes could feel so good or make such a huge difference. My feet didn't bother me at all.

I have a feeling I am going to hate putting on my work boots tomorrow LOL.

I am laid over in PA since yesterday. I am waiting to pick up a load and it won't be ready until some time tomorrow. I should get the email giving me the pick up time later today. In the meantime I can get out and do some walking.

Hello Mason.  I am getting the feeling that you are starting to enjoy this in spite of yourself.  You will be running marathons before you know it.  Keep up the good work.  judy

I am still a barefoot boy!  I own several pairs of shoes - but I prefer shoeless.

Glad you got a good person to help you!  I guess if you have to wear shoes, it helps to have a good pair.

Hiya. You're right, I am enjoying it. This morning I went for a run (can you believe THAT?) on a nature trail. I did walk part of it, but ran most. It was a blast.

Marathon? Well, I have actually thought about it but I would probably have to get a hip replacement first LOL.

Yeah, I know you prefer the barefoot thing. I actually mentioned you to someone the other day because of that. We were talking about running shoes. I can see you running a marathon barefoot, winning, and making your own laurel crown afterwords. LOL

Thanks.
