A bunch of useless crap

I am currently hanging out in Denver, CO. Yesterday (Monday) morning I delivered a new model of snow removal truck to the airport here for a demonstration. I will be picking up again this afternoon to haul it back to the factory.

It has been nice and warm here, the locals complaining about it being too hot with temps in the upper 80s. Feels just about right to me.

Lately I have been getting tired of eating in truck stops, and eating in my truck has been limited to what I could do with just a microwave (or cold sandwiches), so I picked up an electric skillet, crock pot, and a small electric pot that can do everything from simmering and boiling to deep frying.

Armed with these few items I think I can cook just about anything I like right in the truck. I picked up a few supplies and tonight will make my first attempt at real cooking in the truck. I am thinking something simple like goulash.

I also picked up a t-bone which I will grill in the electric skillet.

While I won't be able to any really complex cooking, I think I can cook up some chili, stews, beef roast, pasta, etc. It will save me money over eating in the truck stops, and will allow me to eat better, fresher foods (assuming I don't burn down the truck LOL). Besides, I kind of miss cooking for myself, which is something I have always enjoyed.

Now I just have to figure out where to store the equipment.

Steaks should always be cooked on an open Grill - but I guess that is kind of hazardous in your occupation!  So the Electric skillet is the next best thing!

Happy Cooking!

BTW: On the snow removal - they should have shipped it out to I-80.  I hear they got snow yesterday out in California!  Global Warming is rough!

Yeah, I will be adding a gas grill for outdoor on the truck some time soon. Dealing with charcoal is a problem on the truck. One problem is that many truck stops have banned grilling. I suspect it's because they want you to eat in their place for an absurd amount of money.

I heard about the snow in the mountains. Not that unusual for those altitudes, even this time of year.

I have heard that the prices have gone sky-high since my last visit, but I used to love to stop at BoomTown just west of Reno.  They had a buffet there that was world class and it was $2.99 weekdays and $3.99 on weekends...can't buy raw for that.  Sierra Cid's on the other side of town was pretty good, too.  Ahh well, I know they charge an arm and a leg nowdays.  Sounds like you got a system going there...happy trails.

Hi there Mason.  Back in my old stomping grounds again I see.  I remember you talking about cooking in Florida and that you did enjoy it so hope that works out for you.  Stay away from the fires and the smoke.  Happy Trails.  judy

Yeah, prices have really gone up. I used to avail myself of those cheap meals too.
