A bunch of useless crap

Tonight finds me in a hotel in Florida. I pulled in rather early but still only an hour away from my planned Monday morning delivery. I wanted to stop early enough to get a good viewing seat for the Super Bowl game.

After checking in to the hotel I made my way a half mile up the street to a steak house that had an enclosed bar separate from the restaurant, so that I could smoke while watching the game.

Before the game started a fellow came in from the sports bar next door with a grid sheet for the game. He was selling score squares for five bucks each. After checking with the bartender to ensure that he was legitimate I bought a single square on the sheet.

I promptly forgot about the sheet when the game started.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game, rooting for the Packers, drinking a few cold ones, and exchanging jibes with my fellow patrons who happened to be rooting for the Steelers. All in all it was a very good time.

After the game I was preparing to leave when the fellow from the sports bar next door came back in and handed me a wad of cash, saying that I had won their pool. I was a bit stunned to say the least.

I bought a round for the house, paid off my own tab, and still put a bit of cash in my wallet. Basically I spent an evening watching a very good game, drank beer, and had a decent meal not only for free but left with more cash than I had when I got there.

That is what I call a good evening out.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the lovely young lady (emphasis on the young part, stress on the lovely bit) who came up to my old, gray-bearded self and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek because she liked the smell of my pipe tobacco (CBW). That was a high point in and of itself.

All in all it was a very enjoyable Super Bowl Sunday.

You definitely topped my Superbowl Sunday!  I was thinking about the square pools and was wondering how many people thought they had good numbers with a 1 and 4, only to see Pittsburgh go for the 2 point conversion!  Ouch!

As for fans, the consensus on JU was Packers, and I was rooting for them myself (I wanted Charles Woodson to get a ring).  While I kind of like the Steelers (not a fan, just think they have a quality outfit), everyone I know was rooting for the Packers.  Including all in my house that night.  It just seemed strange to me, but I guess there were some Pittsburgh fans out there somewhere!

That's funny, there was only one person in the place I was that was rooting for the Steelers.
